Game Freezes but Runs in Background

I'm recognizing a common problem people seem to be having. The game locking on a single frame while the game continues to run. So if you are flying or driving there is a strong possibility you will crash because you don't know where you are going. Are other people having this problem and is it a recent development?

I don't know if it's related but I have noticed that occasionally my FPS will drop to 5 and stay like that for a random period of time. I usually run it in the upper 90s.

I've had that happen once recently. Couldn't figure out wtf was going on.

1st time anyone has mentioned it.

I'll need to ck, and need as much information as anyone can provide.

But I always monitor the server, and its running as it should.

But that doesnt mean there isnt a problem, just means I dont know what it is atm.

Well I just wanted to make a post to see if its more common than i thought. I've heard it happen to 5 people that I know of, including myself.

only reason i'm asking is because nobody has told me anything like this.

certain parts of the map can cause fps drops (cherno with a few other players in it)\

but nothing should cause it to freeze (atleast serverside)

i can make my client freeze (certain things running in background) <---always best to play with nuthin else running

when did it start?

how often in a session?

i need more info to investigate better

That's what I'm trying to do here. Trying to get more people to report this problem to see if its a non issue.

When I had my frame rate drop I was looking at the NEAF barracks so there was seemingly no reason.

And when the game froze for me we were all in a huey at NEAF and 3 of us all had the game freeze frame at the same exact time.

if it was all 3 of you at same time, then something was going on with the server.

i hate to keep asking more questions, but its the only way i can even begin to figure this one out

what day/time did that happen?

lots of things could cause that to happen i guess, if it happens all the time......then it would be a very significant problem

Well for the record it seems to happen in vehicles a lot, mainly choppers. I've had it happen in a humvee and then the case where we were flying the huey at NEAF.

Let's just wait and see if more people speak up. Before you dive into this. I don't want to make this a wild goose chase. I just want to bring it to your attention skeeter.

you mean one person flying the huey and everyone else in the chopper see him flying on the ground ?

its all good

like i told you, it bother me when someone is having tech. problems, or problems that affect their gameplay

so even if others dont notice this.....i still want to figure out why its happening

so please keep me updated with anymore happenings, and any ideas to the cause of it.

so far 1 thing that could for sure cause this

if someone was trying to join the server while you/others had red chain desync

this can sometimes cause network traffic corruption

if it happens again, I'm going to show you howto access your client .rpt log
because I can learn alot more about the problem by comparing your client log with my logs

Just started for me today. Seems to be when things render (road blocks) or zeds appear/despawn.

Petrov just said it happened to him in a Sundat truck at 10:00PM local time.

Also I should clairify that the freeze only seems to happen for 1 to 2 seconds. But it matters when you are driving at 102 kph.

This happens to me aswell lately mainly in larger cities. My screen freezes but I can hear everything around me and the game still continues to run. I can't recall the exact circumstances atm but I remember driving a car and then getting stuck. I waited for about 30 seconds and then hit the power button on my computer. When I logged back in the car was still in place where I quit but my character was 500m away.

Did you forget to turn on this ?

Happened to me yesterday a couple times. Doesn't seem to matter whether I'm driving or not or where I am. There isn't a pattern to it either I think it's a server problem.

if this is happening in cherno/elektro/ along the coast........then its something that has been happening in dayz from the beginning

I've looked and checked everything. There are no problems with the server. I've been monitroting everything since this was 1st reported. I've also tried to recreate it. I've only had issues when driving close to cherno/elektro.....and other areas along the coast. (But this can happen even on an empty server)

I'm still watching everything close, if I could find a problem it would make alot more sense.

But everything is working perfect.

if this happens again. make a copy of your clients .rpt log

and then get a copy of it to me (either using a free pastebin, or w/e you like)

PM me and I can tell you howto find it, and the easiest way to get it to me.

with that log I can find out alot more about what is happening on the clients end of the problem.
