I would like to conduct a personal (Skeeter did not ask me to do this) poll that would see what the community wants to do when it comes to skins and how they will be had.

I will explain the options I came up with below:

Purchased + Unrestricted: Skins will be purchased with items and all skins will be available to everyone.

Purchased + Restricted: Skins will be purchased with items but each group will pick their dedicated skin that no one else can have (first come first serve basis. You like the skin? Join them.)

Purchased (Lottery) + Restricted: Skins will be purchased with items but each group will pick their dedicated skin no one else can have. Groups will pick favorite skin and if any other group picks that skin then there will be a lottery to determine the winner of the skin. Lottery will occur before implementation of skins so losers of the lottery have the chance to choose another skin thus possibly creating another lottery scenario). You are voting on the concept and not the method of lottery.

To make this fair and balanced the players maybe could be stripped of all gear and are forced to stay within a town and fight to the death. You are voting on the concept and not on the event.

I would like to make my vote public. I am voting for the option "Free (Lottery) + Restricted". Why am I picking this option? Well 1st: Free is a egalitarian choice for me. Some groups have plenty of loot they could purchase a group rate of skins for and this could make it difficult for some groups to get the skins they want. I want everyone to be happy. 2nd: The lottery is better than the event because there is random chance involved and less room for technical difficulties. 3rd: Restricted. I wasn't for this before but now I see where Scott was coming from. Restricted skins for factions could result in better team work but also acts as a "target painted on their backs". Groups like NofW are taking a risk by having the same skin. I don't know how many times I've hesitated to take a shot because I thought they were a friendly. I can go on about why this is better than unrestricted (spies anyone?) but I think I got my point across.

Please vote so we can figure something out as a community. Feel free to discuss and or add options to a future poll. I will gladly create another one after we come to a conclusion here.

I couldn't help but notice that there is no option for "let's not have any skins at all because that defeats the purpose of hero/survivor/bandit anonymity and the implied moral choices that could stem from said system based on whatever a player is feeling at a given moment, should he or she choose to react a certain way, particularly since this ambiguity is a large part of what the game is based on."

My two cents: skins are a horrible idea for the aforementioned reason.

Some clans want to be targeted as well as be noticed because in the end...they figure out a way to do that. Scumbag Heroes: Requires a hero skin. Black and Yellow bandit: Black SUV. Etc. These groups find ways to not be anonymous so skins allows that choice.

Anyway, you're playing on a non-public modded server. We have increased spawn rates of vehicles and guns. new buildings. This changes game-play completely but you seem okay with that?

Another reason clan based skins would be good is it identifies them, sometimes i get killed and i dont know if it was black bandit or NofW. Without having the death messages we could know what people look like, it'd be more realistic

Great point. Skeeter has been working on death messages I think...but I would much rather prefer this.

I just don't see the bandits, heros and survivors skins being enough either. We have too many groups and I believe more skins = a more intense and fun game play.

I think more skins will help make players more unique and will help with immersion/the role playing element. I always found it arcade-ish that everyone had the exact same clothing on. The only reason the humanity requirement was brought up with skeeter was because we didn't want random bandits rolling with hero skins but now that it's not a purchase system with free for all picks we may not need it. I was just trying to please the all mighty Sean.

I think, uniforms as they are, are the call of a clan or group. And therefore should be THEIR responsibility to acquire and wear. I don't feel any set skin should be exclusive to a clan; I'm not fond of the idea of having to join a clan to pursue a particular skin. IE: if a group all wants to wear Hero skins, its on them to chase down the humanity and become Heroes. I don't feel any of the skins should be sequestered off for a particular clan. If you want to all look the same, then strive to look the same. Make it a requirement of enlistment and recruitment. But, if I so choose to wear the same skin; so be it. Its up to you to tell us apart.

Its not hard for me to acquire actual military, and or various other uniforms in reality, regardless of whether or not I'm a member of said organization.
