*solved*Side Channel Voice Comms

Alot of people are abusing this feature, at 2202 on 28 Dec 12, Abnormal was playing music in it and singing along, even after being asked repeatedly to stop.

Yea this is always hard to regulate, I will add some automated messages about this. Also to be able to mute a player (for those who dont know how), press P and find the player in the list, click on players name and select "mute". this will atleast get the noise out of your ears.

Problem with muting players is u forget and maybe later in the game he's tryin to talk to u about something game related .... maybe a warning system repeated offences lead to a ban ?

yea, looks like I need to do something, I dont like making a bunch of rules. I will get something worked up in a form of warnings. If i'm not around at time of offense, then someone can report the problem here. I can check and if needed temp ban the player. This would only be for extreme cases of side chat abuse. (yelling, screaming, not stopping when asked)

I don't want ruin anyone's fun, but I think the general rule should be: no voice in side chat, like it is the norm on most servers.
Over the past couple of days I had to mute several people because I couldn't hear zombies/footsteps/reloading of nearby players or simply because I wasn't interested in what they were saying. Press p, look up the player's name and click the mute button, during which you're vulnerable.
It also ruins your fun when you're into full sneak mode, savouring the moment and you get snapped out of it by some player 50km away.

I agree, and I'm aware it is a firm rule in most servers. I'm not the kind of person who trys to micro manage people, and shove rules at them.

But I do realize this is becoming a problem, so I'm also going to ask you guys this......

What should the punishments be for talking in side chat?
I want to keep the mood light here, maybe another good addition would be some sort of "chat mod" Could take applications for the position. This way when I'm not around, there would be a chat moderator on at all times. We could have 1 from each of the major time zones that play here.

They could let new people know about the new side chat rule, and also tell them to stop when they break the rule. They could warn that if they dont stop abusing side chat, they would be reported to me.

I know you all have forum accounts now, so reply to this guys. Let me know what ya think. It seems to me that most of the community do not like ppl talking in side chat. So maybe this is a good solution.

We would still allow VOICE in Direct chat........just no more voice in side chat.

Googled around for a bit. It seems the admin can't turn off voice in sidechat without also disabling text chat in side or disabling voice chat in all channels like direct.
However, you can slide VON all the way back (options / audio options), and this only affects voice in sidechat, you will still hear people talking in direct/vehicle.

Maybe you can add this trick to a automated console/admin message?

This way everyone can be happy.

edit: I see you already added a message, maybe it's even better this way as people will actually use direct chat. Thank you.

i try to only use voip when im flying cause i cant type without pressing a control that makes my plane crash
thats teh only time i use side chat is when i flying my plane if i do it other tiems im very sorry i get distarcted alot
