Combat Logging

This is always a big problem in any first person shooter. For the most part it was a big issue here. But over the last week I have noticed more people reporting combat loggers

Sometimes its very obvious and easy for me to confirm. Other times it takes alot more investigating to figure out what happened.

For those who may not know what "combat logging" or "logging" means. The simple definition would be : *Logging out of the game to avoid combat (logging out when you spot another player)
*Logging out to avoid death (logging out after being shot at or shot)

There are some other more foggy examples of combat logging, but I feel these 2 are the BIG problems. Combat logging ruins a large part of dayZ , this is a survival game. If you log out to avoid a risking your survival.......then you are exploiting the mechanics of the game (to survive).


I hope we dont have anymore cases of this, for the most part I see people hang in there and finish a firefight (even if they are in a bad position, or death seems certain). I'm always proud of anyone who puts up a good fight, and shows good sportsmanship.


So many people have suggested some type of punishment for this. I said I would make a spot for ppl to post punishment ideas. If I can prove it was a combat log........then we will punish the player in someway.

Thank you all for being so active in the community. We are approaching our 2 month anniversary. In that time we have changed alot of things, always with the intention of making this place better. Never could do that with out plenty of suggestions/ideas. So lets all continue to move forward and find things that need attention.

I have an idea for punishment. Remove any morphene they have and break their legs! If they can scavenge and find more morphene that's great but they will have to risk their lives crawling into town. Been there, done that. Lol

not a bad idea, very creative punishment.

everyone mad about combat logging, here is the spot to talk about it

Strip their gear, since that is why people combat log, they just dont want to lose their loot. I just dont understand why people are so attached to their gear, if the only thing they want to do is use the same gun and kill people they should just play traditional shooters..

Im kinda with dave i wouldnt strip them entirely.....

1st offence Lose main weapon
2nd weapon main/secondary
3rd and beyond full strip and admin message in Red stating this guy is a coward

I was thinking about this today at work.

This evening I'm going to post a list of server rules (something I really hate to do, but its necessary)

Main rule is the combat logging thing. Another rule that is now needed, NO ACCUSING people of hacking. If someone has proper proof of someone hacking/cheating......they can post it on forum. Other than that, accusing someone ingame will be against the server's rules. People are doing this way too much.

So at this time, 3 rules have proved to be needed.
1. No abusing voice in side chat
2. No combat Logging
3. No accusing people of hacking. (If you have proof, post it on forum)

I will try to get a official topic started tonight titled "Server Rules"
along with the topic, a ingame auto message directing people here to see the rules.
